Benefit from top performance parameters in bore machining
SDP: The all-rounder for drilling
The solid carbide drills of the SDP series are universally applicable and stand for highly productive drilling in a wide range of applications. Equipped with the most modern Sumi-Power coating, a high adhesion resistance as well as a high wear resistance are guaranteed. Excellent performance parameters are given by maximum feed rates as well as stable and long tool life.
We have now updated the Tooling News on the SDP drill with regard to drawings and tables according to DIN ISO 13399.
SDM: The solution for stainless steel
The SDM solid carbide drills extend the application range of the SumiDrill series into the field of stainless and low-carbon steels. Thanks to the Sumi-Power coating, the SDM drills also convince with a high adhesion resistance as well as a high wear resistance with a long tool life. SDM delivers lower cutting forces thanks to its sharper edge, this greatly reduces burr build-up at the exit of the drill hole reducing cutting forces, avoiding overloading on low-power machines compared to our SDP Drill.
SMD: Replaceable head drill for highest stability
The SMD Series are detachable head type drills using a radial serrated connection design for high precision and strength. Due to the radial toothing, the SMDH tool holder has a very long tool life, as no material fatigue occurs at the interface. With the easily exchangeable drill head SMDT, high productivity and cost efficiency is achieved. Regrinding of the drill heads is possible two to three times, depending on wear, so that a reduction in tool costs is achieved over the entire usage cycle of the drills.
WDX: Insert drills for maximum cost efficiency
The WDX insert drill has an excellent cutting balance that enables stable drilling in a wide range of materials from general steel to stainless steel, as well as cast iron and aluminium alloys. The associated WDXT inserts are available in four chipbreaker designs and three carbide grades. These are characterised by excellent chip control and, depending on the type, reduced cutting forces. The economical, four-cornered inserts are used in central and peripheral positions.
For solid carbide tools, we offer users a regrinding service at the Sumitomo plant in Lauchheim. Here, the original geometry as well as Sumitomo's own coating are recreated.
