Some of those third parties need access to personal information in order to provide the services or perform the functions Sumitomo requires. As Sumitomo is part of a global organisation, we may from time to time transfer personal information to a Sumitomo company located in another country, including in countries outside of the European Economic Area. These countries may not have the same data protection legislation than your own country.

As indicated, we also engage a range of third parties to provide services and perform business support functions for us. Some of those third parties are located outside of the European Economic Area in countries that may not have the same data protection legislation than your own country.

Please note that where Sumitomo transfers personal information to a Sumitomo company or third party service provider located outside of the European Economic Area, we will take the appropriate steps to ensure that the information is only used for purposes permitted under this website privacy policy, and is given the same protection as it has in the European Union. Where required by applicable law, Sumitomo will put in place the appropriate contractual safeguards to guarantee that your personal information remains protected.

Data retention

Server log files

Google Analytics

We use the functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics on our website. The provider of this service is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. For your security, we have activated the IP anonymization function. This will cause Google to shorten your IP address within the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement before it transmits it to the United States. Only in exceptional cases is the entire IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google uses this information exclusively on our behalf in order to evaluate your usage behaviour on our website. YouTube videos

We have embedded videos from YouTube, the site operated by Google, on our website. It is operated by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit one of our websites that has a YouTube video and you click on it to play it, we connect to YouTube servers and transmit data. If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can directly assign your usage behavior to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account before watching our videos. Social Media Buttons - Shariff

To “share” content on our website, we use the open source program “Shariff”, developed by c’t and heise online, which prevents the transmission of user data through the integrated social media buttons when visiting our website. This means that data is not conveyed to social networks until the visitor actively clicks on the share button. Your data privacy is thus improved as you do not leave a digital trail on every site you visit.

Newsletter

To subscribe to our newsletter, we only need your e-mail address. Other data, such as first and last names, are not collected or only collected on a voluntary basis. The data will only be used to send our newsletter and will not be passed on to third parties. Your data will be processed on the basis of your consent pursuant to article 6 (1) letter a GDPR . You can revoke your consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in our newsletter. Your data stored by us will be deleted after you have unsubscribed.

We use CleverReach to send our newsletter. The provider is CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Mühlenstr. 43, 26180 Rastede / Germany. CleverReach is an e-mail marketing software that organizes and analyzes the sending of newsletters. Your deposited data is stored on servers of CleverReach. The software enables us not only to create visually appealing newsletters, but also to manage recipients and analyse their click behaviour.
